Harrisburg Area Community College needed a better way to manage student printing in the libraries and the computer labs. HACC was experiencing growing pains. More students, more classes and more printing, a lot of the printing...wasted. The existing pay for print system that was installed by another equipment vendor never worked properly. HACC needed a solution that interfaced with their existing student database, maintained a running balance and allowed students to add money to their account when needed. The solution had to allow for 100 free prints for every student, every semester. The solution also had to service five regional campuses throughout Central Pennsylvania. The proposed solution must pay for itself.
We partnered with HACC’s internal teams to help find a solution that worked in all campuses and all environments. The final solution incorporated computer hardware, pay for print software, laser printers, and a service contract that included maintenance, parts, labor, and toner for all print devices. We moved high volume areas to more cost-effective MFP’s while at the same time, we refreshed older laser printers with today’s faster models. Today, the solution serves five campuses and 22,000 users.
